General Notes |
I10_NEOMAT identifies discharges with neonatal and/or maternal diagnoses and procedures. The information on coding is available in the report on HCUP Quality Control Procedures posted on all HCUP database documentation web pages. For data prior to the fourth quarter of 2015, the neonatal and/or maternal diagnosis and/or procedure codes are stored in the data element NEOMAT to indicate the use of the ICD-9-CM coding system. |

State Specific Notes |
Colorado In 2016 and 2017, the number of neonatal records is significantly lower than the number of maternal records. It is estimated that the 2016 Colorado SID is missing roughly 14 percent of births and the 2017 SID is missing about 18 percent of births, which are largely attributed to mothers with a primary expected payer (PAY1) of Medicaid. |
